As much as I feel obsolete somedays. Fighting against not just fast fashion but ultra fast fashion and late stage capitalism with ever changing algorithms to boot I’m reminded to stay rooted in my purpose. That sense of discovery I’ve always chased, whether a luxury department store website or taking a train or bus to the end of the line to look at magazines, to sourcing and selling goods across the globe. @dvdianavreeland, a mentor to @andreltalley once said the eye has to travel. Just as she said “You gotta have style. It helps you get down the stairs. It helps you get up in the morning. It’s a way of life. Without it, you’re nobody. I’m not talking about lots of clothes.” I think it’s up to interpretation, for me in these days of misinformation and AI I choose to find mine in the street just as I always have. The runway will never run me nor will fast fashion. All that to say art is important. Real art not garbage pushed through a machine. You may not have the time to find inspiration the way that I do but make a push for it. We’re all the better for it.
